Do Indian citizens need a visa on arrival for Thailand?

Do Indian citizens need a visa on arrival for Thailand?

Is it required yet VOA for all Indian citizens traveling to Thailand? If not yet, when is the launch? I read Thailand will cancel visa-free entries for Indians in 2026.

Top Answer/Comment:

Thailand has announced that it is going to make a number of changes to Visa rules, including the need for Indian citizens to obtain either a Visa-On-Arrival, or an e-visa in advance. These changes were approved in mid-May 2026, and will take effect 15 days after they are published in the country's "Royal Gazette". As best as I can work out, this has not yet occurred, but likely will occur within the next few weeks.

So at this point, if your trip is within the next 15 days you do not need a visa to enter Thailand. For trips starting after that period, it's still unknown if you will need a visa or not.

Airlines generally use a system called Timatic to determine if a passenger needs a visa or not. Currently Timatic states that Indian citizens do NOT need a visa to enter Thailand for up to 60 days. This will be updated once the rules change and airlines will begin to enforce the new requirements - although because Visa-on-Arrival is an option they will not simply deny passengers for not having a visa.
