Lubuntu 26.04 on HP Chromebook x2 - Trackpad not working correctly

Lubuntu 26.04 on HP Chromebook x2 - Trackpad not working correctly

Chromebook in question: HP Chromebook x2 - touchscreen tablet with detachable keyboard.

Following the guides on mrchromebox.tech, I was able to get Lubuntu installed. Everything is working great except the trackpad. The cursor "warps" to the corresponding location on the screen to wherever I touch the touchpad (if I touch the top left of the touchpad the cursor instantly moves to the top left of the screen) and it constantly clicks and drags as I move my finger around the touchpad.

Touchpad in question:

I haven't used Linux in a decade or so so you'll have to excuse my ignorance. I used AI to give some bash commands for the below info. Let me know if I can provide more info.

Top Answer/Comment:

Capabilities: pointer touch means it can be both a touchpad or currently a touchscreen. Wayland recommends leaving exactly one device type. Paste into /etc/udev/rules.d/99-askubuntu-1568431-1004020-my-touchpad-is-not-a-touchscreen.rules:

ACTION!="remove", KERNEL=="event[0-9]*", ENV{ID_VENDOR_ID}=="18d1", ENV{ID_MODEL_ID}=="502b", ENV{ID_INPUT_TOUCHSCREEN}="", ENV{ID_INPUT_TABLET}="", ENV{ID_INPUT_MOUSE}="1"

After this, reboot your computer.
